Baggage Allowance
We are a family of four with 15kgs baggage allowance each. Does this mean we each have to have a suitcase weighing no more than 15kg? Or do we have collectively 60kg baggage allowance? Therefore can we have three suitcases weighing less than 60 kg collectively, but more than 15kgs individually? Anyone?

Most airlines are pretty strict about baggage allowances. I say this based on my experience working for an Airline. Overweight baggage is a real moneymaker. PSA's must charge accordingly as inspectors are disguised as mystery shoppers. Failure to charge is a no no.
Carry on allowances are strict for good reason. Air Crew will make you check it if you manage to sneak on an overweight bag.
Check your Airline's website for up to date weight restrictions and allowances. Weigh your own bags to be sure. |

China internally is theoretically 20KG - If you like buying cheap "bargains" as a couple take only one case and buy another over there for all the "stuff" you might want to bring back |

we recently flew to Spain with Ryanair. Their weight limit is 15kg per travelling member with NO sharing of weight. They display signs highlighting this fact all around the airport. So every person travelling has a suitcase limit of 15kgs with a hand luggage restriction of 10kgs.
Also if your suitcase weighed up to 15.9kgs then they would not charge. But once it hit 16kg they charged €8 for the additional full kilo. 16.9kgs also cost €8 until it weighed 17kgs etc...
I can only speak for Ryanair as I think that Easyjet has an allowance of 20kgs per individual. |

I beleive all airlines have limited the weight of indivudual peices of luggage to 23 kg, so just take care how you distribute the weight. |

In my experience, it is very much at the discression of the company you are flying with (and the person on the desk when you check in).
More often than not, the airline has added all the bags together to get a total. So, if you have a coulpe of bags over the individual weight limit and a couple under, this should not matter. |
